Dean and DeLuca Opens in Singapore: Spicing up your Epicurean Craving

My view of Singapore for the coming days.

Believe it or not, I am obsessed with anything that reminds of me of New York. Out of all the places I could visit in Singapore on my first day, Dean and DeLuca got way past everything on my list.

How could I not go? I regularly visit their lovely and humongous branch in SoHo every time I find myself back in New York City.

For those of you who aren't familiar, gourmet purveyor Dean and DeLuca is one of NYC's most famous upscale grocery store and cafe. Its much-awaited opening in Singapore was last June 22, 2012 at the Orchard Central. All the foodies must have found this news "eargasmic".

They have everything from artisanal cheese, exotic herbs and spices to a wide range of California Napa Valley wines. I didn't bother asking but the maĆtre fromager or cheese expert could recommend good wine pairings with cheese.

Dean and DeLuca has a comprehensive selection of charcuterie, which I absolutely love! These are amongst my favorites:  Spanish Chorizo Bilbao, Jamon Serrano, and Honey-cured Hams. They are also known for serving quality bread.

Although I wanted to try the Must-Eat Sauteed Brioche with Caramelized Bananas for brunch, I decided to go with the Salmon since eating healthier was an option. I was a bit disappointed with the presentation though. They could have just put a bit of garnish with my food. I had to pay extra for the greens.

If you are looking for gift or party ideas, this store has some of the best products made exclusively for D and D that would satisty your epicurean craving. Grocery shopping is transformed into this rare luxurious experience.

A Word of Caution: You might end up buying more than what you need.

Toppings perfect for some Bruchettas.
D and D Coffee.

Chili Pepper Sauce.

Anything you can think of that would make staying in the kitchen more exciting, they have it.

Foie gras, anyone?

Yours truly enjoying an Orange + Carrot Juice Energizer.

Interestingly, there's a rock climbing facility by BorderX right beside the cafe. Without putting yourself in danger because of the fixed path, you can conquer your fears and climb the via Ferrata or the "Iron wall". It is actually the tallest indoor rock climbing wall in the world (30 m). Cost $30 on weekdays and $35 on weekends.

For the next few days, I'll have more to visit here in Singapore. My priority would be Gardens by the Bay and the Harry Potter Exhibition at MBS, of course. and Yes, there will be more food tripping in the coming days. I'll most likely be back at Dean and Deluca before I go home next week.

After D and D, I met up with one of my good friends Andrea. We had some good talk about love, business, and career over Afternoon Tea at the courtyard of Fullerton Hotel.
