Cru Steakhouse at the Marriott Manila


Cru Steakhouse always gets me excited to eat. It offers a gastronomic experience that is rarely present in most fine dining restaurants in the city. With its dark and luxurious interiors (actually reminds of the Godfather movies), attentive service and high grade steaks, it easily lives up to reputation as one of the best steakhouses in the city. 

Cru is strict with the dress code so please make sure you wear something nice for dinner. No shorts. No slippers. 


When you enter Cru, you are immediately drawn to its open kitchen. It's a treat to watch the chefs do their magic.

As part of my Staycation, Marriott gave me a complimentary 3-course dinner.  I chose Set A (P3300) since this included steak. You do come here to eat excellent Steak. Set B was more for fish lovers. 

If you happen to love wine, Cru has an extensive wine list from all wine regions. Even wine connoisseurs will be impressed. Since this was recommended, we chose their house wine Benchmark from Australia for this dinner. You can't go wrong with Carbenet Sauvignon and Steak. 

As usual, Cru was consistent with everything, from start to finish. For our Amuse Bouche, we had Shrimp Tempura with a hint of Wasabi. Not a fan of Wasabi but this gave the shrimp the right amount of kick.
The Appetizer was Baby Spinach Salad - Orange, Blue Cheese Crumble, Walnuts in Parmesan Soup with Light Mustard Dressing. The texture and different flavors all blended well. 

Our main course and the highlight of our dinner: Grilled Certified Angus Beef USDA Prime Rib (250g) with Black Peppercorn Sauce. I always have my steak cooked well-done. My Prime Rib was Cooked to Perfection! It was juicy even without the sauce.

Our Steak also included Potato + Onion Gratin and my favorite Portobello Mushrooms served in a miniature cast-iron pot. I swear the Portobello mushrooms are too die for! Almost tasting like meat, they will give you enough reason to come back to Cru. 

After finishing the streak, they served Raspberry Sorbet to cleanse the palate. 

The desserts also did not disappoint. I always look forward to desserts in fine dining restaurants. 

This was the Caramelized Apple Crisp with Homemade Gianduja Chocolate Gelato. Divine.

The White Chocolate Cheesecake with Mango Ice Cream was sinfully good. We were glad to have ended the night with these excellent sweets.

When we got back to our room, I immediately saw this nice surprise from Cru's Manager, Patricia Lagman. This is Hotel Service at its finest. I love personal touch in hotels. Makes you feel at home.


Cru has certainly made me one satisfied Patron again. Kudos To Chef Casanova and the staff of Cru for another memorable fine dining experience. See you soon.
