Picking a restaurant in New York is a tough challenge. When you have thousands of choices for a gastronomic adventure, the mind can be a bit overwhelmed. The fear for most people is ending up with the wrong one, which is not impossible from happening. Like everyone on a precious holiday, you want to get the most out of your buck.
On the morning of my birthday, we had no idea where we were going to have my birthday lunch. Normally, I wouldn't pick a hotel restaurant in Manhattan since they would be overpriced and servings would be small. Our love for the Peninsula group, however, brought us to the heart of Midtown Manhattan where Peninsula NewYork stood. For our new dining experience in the city, the newly-renovated Clement Restaurant was our top pick. Clement overlooks the vibrant Fifth avenue, making it a beautiful place for a leisure or business lunch
With the temperatures slowly dropping every single day to negative zero, it was a relief to enter Peninsula's hotel lobby. I always looked forward to the "thawing" part after walking around NYC in freezing weather.

These Scallops were so good that I had forgotten I was allergic to them. Each bite brought me to Scallop heaven.
Clement's Chef definitely knows how to cook his seafood well. The Succulent and Tender Roasted Pork with Crisp Crackling was an instant favorite. It was flavorful and juicy even without the sauce.
A nice surprise in NYC -- Clement's version of Halo-Halo made for the Philippines! My heart melted when I saw this. It was nice to see this part of the world helping the Victims of Typhoon Yolanda. It was not the best Halo-halo but it was the thought behind it that made excellent!

Clement has a luxurious and modern design that matches its Contemporary American cuisine. For dining options, guests also have a choice to pick a semi-private or private space in Clement. They have made rooms that would cater to any occasion or event, whether it's a romantic date or business lunch.
I loved the details on the wall.
On top of the near perfect service, the food and ambience made this birthday lunch one for the books. The staff made us feel like VIPs the whole time. Thank you Clement for this memorable dining experience. Turning 30 wasn't so bad after all.

That hotel is looks like the typical New York hotel, luxury furniture, rich lighting, almost on the verge of looking cheap. But it sounds like you had a great time, so there is that! Greetings!
@LilKittie - Peninsula is far from being a typical NY hotel. :)

This is far from the cheap hotels in New York. Actually this is one of the most amazing places I have seen and it is not about the furniture or the lights. It is about that food! Those gourmet dishes look amazing. I would love to try those :)
