How to Apply for A Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) in India: Four Easy Steps

Basking in the splendor of the Taj Mahal.

India has always been one of my dream destinations because of the most beautiful monument of love in the world - the Taj Mahal. Before I write about my trip here though, I would like to share my experience regarding the Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) process. Last year, we all heard that India made it hassle-free for Filipinos to visit their country. I would like to clarify that the literal Tourist on Visa on arrival no longer applies (meaning you can land in India and simply fill out the Tourist Visa on Arrival form when you arrive). Earlier this year, the government modified this. You now have to apply online but don't let that discourage you from going. The Four steps are quite simple. Here they are:

1) Apply Online. Click this link https://indiavisaonline.gov.in.

NOTES from the India Visa Online site:

E-tourist Visa Facility is available for holders of the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cook Islands, Djibouti, Fiji, Finland, Germany, Guyana, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kiribati, Laos,  Luxembourg, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia, Myanmar, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue Island, Norway, Oman, Palau, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russia, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tuvalu, UAE, Ukraine, USA, Vanuatu,Vietnam

Eligibility:

1) International travelers whose sole objective of visiting India is: Recreation, Sight Seeing, Casual Visit to meet friends or relative, short duration of medical treatment or casual business visit.

2) Passport - at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival in India. Two blank pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.

3) International Travelers should have return ticket or onward journey ticket with sufficient money to spend during his/her stay.

4) International Travelers having Pakistani passport or origin may please apply for a regular visa at Indian Mission.

5) Not available to Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders.

6) Not available to individuals endorsed on Parent's/Spouse's Passport i.e each individual should have a separate passport.

7) Not available to International Travel Document Holders.

Click Tourist Visa Application Process. Scroll down and you can find all the steps there.
You need a soft copy of your picture (white background) and Passport Page. You'll be asked to upload your photo first. I had a high resolution soft copy of my 2 x 2 photo. The Passport with all your details will be the last that you'll upload. Both should be .pdf file. NOT .jpeg.

2) After the application, you will pay $60 dollars for the application fee. You need a credit card for this.

3) When this has been approved, you Electronic Tourist Visa will be sent to your email.

4) You need to Print the eTV and bring this with you at all times.

5)  You are only allowed to use the TVoA twice in one year.

When you arrive in India, look for a sign that says Tourist Visa on Arrival.
They looked like this in Delhi. We arrived at 2 AM and I was happy to see that there weren't any lines. Quick and Painless.

From Delhi, we immediately went to our hotel in Agra - The magical Oberoi Amarvilas. Everyday there was like waking up from a dream. (Full post soon)

This was the view from our balcony. I still could not believe the Jewel of India was only 600 m away from us.

Namaste, India. You have changed me.

I love travelling but ... I hope I'm not so mean for saying this, I'm not a racist but according to my friends who's been already in India, they cannot handle the smell ... I love Indian Culture that's why I'm so eager watching bollywood movies but to travel there I'm a bit hesitant :) Sorry !

Believe me when I say that India is an amazing country to explore. Keep an open mind. You won't even have to worry about the smell. Go there during October to March.

It’s really a great topic selected by you to discuss over here. Sometime it’s difficult to get approval on visa. Lot of people discuss such things online and try to find out solution for the same so sharing such things which relate to visa, can really help people.
Thanks & Regards,
