La Mamounia Hotel: Velvet Dreams in Marrakech

In any city in the world, there is that one hotel that defines and represents it. In Marrakech, it is no less than La Mamounia - a historic and opulent palace hotel within the Medina. With its roots deeply tied to the city, it is no wonder that this hotel has become a symbol of Marrakech's past and future. La Mamounia, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), embodies Moroccan luxury at its finest.

Enjoy this PHOTOBLOG.

Greeted with Moroccan hospitality by these gentlemen.

The Concierge.

Almond Milk and Dates while waiting for my Suite.

The famous grand lobby of La Mamounia.

You can also find shops here from Dior to Prada.

Tea, anyone?

Everywhere you look, there is a dark and romantic atmosphere that reflects Moorish elegance.

My room. I was upgraded to a Deluxe Koutoubia Suite, which had a beautiful view of the Mosque.

My balcony. It was quite nippy in then morning but I made sure I was bundled up.

Bathroom. I loved the arches on the ceiling.

The divine Moroccan gardens of the Hotel.

You can literally get lost here.

While walking around, I ended up finding the gym.

The mosaic tiles were to die for!

La Mamounia has four impressive restaurants that serve the finest cuisine in the city. This is Le Marocain where they serve local dishes with live music in the background.

If you want something for a date, L'atalien would be an excellent choice. (The other restaurants are Le Français ( for a slightly formal dinner) and the relaxed Le Pavillion de la Piscine).

Dishes were plated beautifully and all of the them were delectable.

A simple dish but it it has all the incredible ingredients for an authentic and unforgettable pasta.

The most famous image of La Mamounia - the heated indoor pool.

Everything was beyond my expectations.

I literally could not stop taking photos.

The Piscine.

Breakfast here was pure joy.

All the staff were always happy to meet my needs (and interview me in the process).

An area that is off limits to most guests but you must request when you are here.

It is the Instagram-worthy.

The wonderful Spa.

It was no surprise why Winston Churchill became a patron of this regal hotel. It is imbued with a rich sense of history but it is moving brightly to the future as well. Velvet dreams do come true.

See you again soon!
